Co-op Bookshop Focus Group Research
 | Co-op Bookshop commissioned SMA to write a "How I survived First Year Uni" Guide. Instead of re-hashing the usual content, SMA conducted a rolling series of focus groups where students themselves developed the content! The focus groups revealed some unpredicted key insights; Firstly, much of the advice was not about 'things you should do" but "how you might be feeling" about first year. We reflected this in the guide. Secondly, sometimes advice conflicted, so we reflected that by providing different perspectives around the same issue in the guide. We continued the conversation with an active Facebook group. Lastly we commissioned a student designer to produce the guide. The result The outcome was a terrific document that genuinely resonated with it's audience - and a great giveaway gift to Co-op's new members in 2009. Update In 2010, Co-op re-commissioned SMA to use the same focus group methodology to develop the 2010 guide, "How I Survived Graduation" |
